Newfoundland portraits

A large head and a dense black coat. The admiral study was made with this build in mind.
Studio example. A Newfoundland painted as an admiral, in oil.

Black coats need a ground that is not the same black. Olive or a sea-dark brown gives the head an edge. A flash photograph flattens the coat and is better avoided.

The admiral manner adds a naval coat in paint. It does not require the dog to wear anything in the sitting. Classic oil, without a coat, is the quieter commission.
